Our Story

The idea to publish a free community magazine in Gallup, New Mexico came into the minds and conversations of four friends in spring 2004.  They wanted to create an avenue for community pride and positivity to be made known.   Conversation soon turned to action and a mission statement, business plan, and market research were completed.  In August 2004, Gallup Journey became a reality; 12,000 copies of the first issue were printed and distributed to every home in Gallup, in addition to restaurants and businesses.  Home delivery continued every month, mostly via bicycle, for 18 months.

Gallup Journey continues to be a small, family-owned business and an important part of Gallup’s media outlets.  Magazines can be found at local restaurants, hotels and businesses throughout each month.
